the Paoli Collection

CMT’s Living Tools Project is pleased to open applications for a recent donation, The Paoli Collection.

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone looking to launch their chairmaking career almost overnight. A unique offering from CMT’s Living Tools Project, The Paoli Collection consists of an entire chairmaking shop complete with hand tools, patterns, jigs, and parts.

Unlike other collections, this one requires that the recipient be able to pick it up in person at the donor’s studio, which is approximately 45 minutes west of Philadelphia. This collection will not be shipped or split up. It is offered in its ENTIRETY and available for PICKUP ONLY. Once the collection is awarded, the recipient will be responsible for making arrangements with the donor’s family for pickup by June 30th

The Paoli Collection’s generous donor had a lifelong interest in Windsor chairs and 18th-century handmade furniture. He and his family hope to pass along his shop to a maker who also loves Windsors and could use the abundant parts to teach and further pass along his gift.
