Bob LANG Collection

Our Living Tools Project is honored to receive an incredible donation of tools from Bob Lang. Perhaps you recognize his name. He’s been a highly regarded furnituremaker, teacher, and writer for decades. This collection, full of tools chosen and tuned for real-life work, especially cabinetmaking, reflects Lang’s experience and knowledge.

Apply today for your chance to be awarded this kit of no-frills tools designed to work. Included are vintage bench planes with upgraded blades, ceramic sharpening stones, plastic-handled IFKYK chisels, a shoulder plane, and squares made by Lang himself. Lang calls out a few tools in particular, including a 9-in. Starrett because its size works better for him than the typical 12-in., a “not too heavy” deadblow, and an ergonomic making knife.

The chairmakers among you will appreciate the saws, drawknife, calipers, and Stanley 151 spokeshave as well.

Don’t forget the handy metal toolbox.

Our latest giveaway is full of history from the hands of someone true to the craft, but its time isn’t done yet. Its story started with a celebrated maker, and it could be yours to continue forward.

Applications open until Nov 1
